The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) has confirmed that the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Saiosh) is the recognised professional body for Occupational Health and Safety in South Africa. Saiosh was approved by SAQA as a Professional Body for the purpose of the NQF Act, Act 67 of 2008
The recognition certificate was handed to Saiosh at the 8th SAQA Forum Meeting held on 31 March 2016 at the Bytes Conference Centre in Gauteng,
In terms of Section 13(1)(i)(ii) of the NQF Act the following professional designations were registered for Saiosh:
- Technical Member – TechSaiosh
- Graduate Member – GradSaiosh
- Chartered Member – CMSaiosh
